The blanket.

I can share this with you now.  Of course if you are on ravelry you have probably already seen it.

This is my version of Jared Flood’s tweed baby blanket, knit in plucky knitter primo worsted.  I made it for a friend, now living in Australia, who is expecting her first baby in October.  When she told me she was expecting I immediately said that I wanted to knit something and asked if she had any color preferences.  The orange and grey were her idea, I added the purple for a little extra zing.

I know what you are probably thinking.  “Why does an Australian baby need a wool blanket?”  Well it must get cold there sometimes.  And even if it doesn’t, babies still need to lie on things. Right?

This pattern has all the right stuff.  Mindless garter stitch, a simple lace pattern and, my personal fave, an i-cord bind off.  I can think of few things that polish a project as well as i-cord edging.  It had me at manu.

Pattern: Tweed Baby Blanket by Jared Flood
Yarn: Primo Worsted by The Plucky Knitter in starlings, 5 skeins (grey), cider mill, 1 skein (orange) and dancing queen, 1 skein (purple)
Needles: 5.5mm and 6mm
